Recipe to retail – prepare to succeed!
This weekend, I read with interest a piece from The Independent about the process of becoming a foodie entrepreneur. A cautionary tale, it nonetheless held some excellent advice for anyone in the throes of setting up a new foodie business.
Mulling it over since then however, I feel compelled to question the last of the ‘5 golden rules’ that the article included for any budding foodie – ‘Be prepared to fail’.
What more self-limiting way to begin can there be than to ‘prepare to fail’?
I firmly believe that the first step in achieving your business dreams is living like you already have. Act, think, talk and behave as though your success is already reality and you’re well on the way to making it so. Start with the mindset of ‘preparing for failure’ and honestly, that is what you’re sure to receive.
So, rant over! 🙂
The article is certainly worth a read, despite my views on the final rule. In fact, were we to write our own golden rules for succeeding on the path from recipe to retail, they’d surely read similarly to those in the Independent food & drink feature.
But the last one would most definitely be ‘BELIEVE YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN AND YOU WILL’!
