Relish Reviews – Tipple Tails Fruit Cakes
We were delighted to receive some Tipple Tail fruit cakes recently for our second Relish review – and what a treat they were!
From the very beginning, the cakes promised much with the beautifully designed tins with the lovely story on about what Tipple Tails means and the quality little cards inside with beautiful photography. Indeed the wrapping around the cake itself was so pretty you hardly wanted to open them! But I managed!
As Jane, Head Cook and Bottle Washer of Tipple Tails advised, I sampled the Ginger Tingle cake with a cup of tea and a strong chunk of cheddar.
The cake was absolutely amazing – so moist and fruity. I was slightly nervous about the cake being steeped in Ginger liqueur as normally I am not a fan of liqueurs in food. But I needn’t have worried! The Ginger liqueur, which like the other liqueurs used in the other cakes are award-winning and all sourced locally, gave a real zing to the cake – but not overpowering at all. Having sampled the cake I could see why the title “Ginger Tingle”.
Reluctantly I handed over the “Cherry Orchard” fruit cake to my partner Claire to try. This is what she had to say:
“The most moist fruit cake I’ve ever tasted. Packed with fruit and nuts, it’s a true treat, and beautifully packaged too. As an adoptive Yorkshire lass, I had to try it with some Wensleydale cheese too – perfect partners!”
As you can see we were both totally impressed by the quality of the cakes and the beautiful packaging – we will be watching the progress of Tipple Tails with interest and hope to see it in lots of delis near us soon!
