How to make your packaging stand out
I am sure every food or drink brand wants to have packaging with great talkability. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean bespoke packaging that costs a fortune, there are many brands out there creating packaging with great stand out without spending a fortune.
Here are the key things to consider when looking at creating great packaging:
- The packaging of your product is like a mobile advert which is there to sell your product. Unfortunately, you can’t be there every time someone picks up your product in store, so your packaging has to do the job for you!
- It needs to clearly communicate what your product is and what is unique about it – on busy shelves, and with busy lives, consumers won’t necessarily waste time picking your product up and trying to work out what it is and why they should buy it.
- Make sure it stands out on shelf amongst the competitors – can you shake up the “norm” for packaging in your category? Do all your competitors use white labels – why not try black?
A great example of stand out packaging is this Brushetta Dynamite :
The packaging fits the product name perfectly.
It is totally unique and positions the product as authentic and premium.
The product is a spicy chilli based spread/antipasti and all the imagery reflects the product inside – an ‘explosion of taste’.
Simple works too:
Familiar packaging makes these vegetarian sausages look like meat sausages.
Lovely brand story being communicated through its brand name and brand imagery – ‘sausages in disguise’
Its quirky, yet simple design gives the brand great stand out & talkability.
