Getting Motivated After the Summer Break…

It can be tricky getting back into the swing of things after a long summer break.  You may have been away or business may have quietened down a little as others have been on holiday.  So some of those important business decisions/projects have been put on the back burner.  Now is the time to get focussed and back on track …Christmas is just around the corner you know!

Motivated after Summer

Here are our 5 handy tips to get you on your way …

1. Set a SMART objective (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time)

You need to be clear on what you want to achieve, how you are going to achieve it and by when?   For example, to list product X in 40 Booth stores by Nov 2014.

2. Dedicate time to enable you to achieve your objective.

This could be blocking time out in your diary or saying every Thursday morning you will dedicate time to achieving your objective.  These activities need to be incorporated into your weekly schedule and you need to stick to it.  A critical path identifying all the key activities and specific dates will help keep you focused and motivated.

3. Be Realistic with your goals

It is much easier to get better at something you already do rather than taking on a totally new challenge e.g. increasing sales on an existing product.  Be clear on the specific steps that you need to take in order for you to get closer to achieving your objective.  Creating a marketing plan on how you are going to support your products, who you will be targeting will help you grow your sales.

4. Keep Positive

Sure there will be challenges along the way and things don’t always go according to plan, but all the decisions we make (whether they be right or wrong) there are learnings that will help us improve next time.

5. Reward yourself!

Celebrate every little success and be proud of what you do, this will keep you going and keep you motivated!
